My name is Heike Roesner and I am artist with heart and soul - paper artist. There is nothing better for me than telling stories with this wonderful stuff and create little worlds.
Probably it might be inherited regarding the material, as my Grandfather Johann Weyer had a papermill in Düsseldorf-Einbrungen (Germany). Of course this is long ago. But I am glad and proud to pursue in a different way the tradition and passion to paper.
I am working in the traditional technique of papermaché or papercaché, respectively. In the first case paper is formed by means of paste - the second way is to build a construction of wire which then is covered with paper, also by means of paste.
In former times this technique was used to produce a lot of things from buttons, jewellery, walls, briquettes, toys up to frames, boxes and many other things of daily life.
By the way - a wonderful example for this era is Schloss Ludwigslust close to Schwerin/Germany. Because of lack of money large parts of the ballroom have been built with papermaché - from the balcony to the candlesticks - and you won't see it. They just put a layer of Gold on everything and this was it!
I am happy if you enjoy travelling through the paper worlds on my website - and wish you a lot of fun!
